Little Dutch Tulip

Little Dutch Tulip
Crocheted tulip, consisting of an orange flower, green leaf and stem, made with cotton yarn and metal wire. The little tulip can be worn as a brooch or hair clip, ideal for King's Day.

2. Before you begin
The tulip is crocheted in spirals. Don’t close the round with 1 sl, but continue crocheting with sc. Make 1 sc in every stitch that isn’t mentioned.
3. Tulip
Start at the bottom of the flower.
Ch 2 with orange or start with a magic ring.
1. 6 sc into the 1st ch or into the magic ring, 1 sl into the 1st sc (= 6 sc)
2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)
3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)
4. - 10. 18 sc
End with 1 sl and cut off, leave a long tail of yarn hanging. Stuff the tulip. Fold the edges inwards to form a cross. Sew the edges together to hold the shape.
4. Leaf
1.C Ch 8 with green.
2. Crochet from the 2nd ch from the needle: 1 sl, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl
Fasten off, leave a small tail of yarn to attach it to the stem.
5. Stem
Cut a piece of wire of 7.5 cm (3”). Make a little circle at the end to ensure the tulip stays in place. Press the wire through the tulip and secure it with a drop of glue. Cut a piece of green yarn of 20 cm. Put some glue on the wire and start wrapping the green yarn around it. Place the leaf with the tail along the wire and wrap the yarn around the tail and the wire so the leaf is attached to the stem. Put more glue on the wire as you work your way down the stem, completely covering it with yarn. Glue the yarn firmly to the end of the wire and cut off the excess yarn.
6. Finishing
If desired, glue the little tulip to a brooch or hair clip. Get ready for a wonderful King's Day and browsing the flea market!
